Avoid Long Term Contracts in Free Agency

I can’t even believe that this needs to be stated, but with reports that Holland is interested in Ron Hainsey and Trevor Daley, I guess it has to be: DO NOT SIGN VETERAN PLAYERS TO ANY SEMBLANCE OF TERM.

Period.

The Red Wings already have a comedic amount of money tied up in terrible contracts, so please, do not add more of them.

There have also been reports that Holland is reluctant to acknowledge that the team even needs rebuilding. If that is still true, then somehow Holland has convinced himself that this pitiful roster can still contend, when it clearly cannot.

Chris Illitch, if you have any desire to see the Wings be successful, you will fire Holland the moment he makes any “win now” moves. This team cannot win now. Even the addition of a Sidney Crosby or a Connor McDavid would not be enough to make these Wings any more than a playoff bubble team.
