Gail Cogdill. 6. player. 50. . Wide Receiver. 1960-1968

Gail Cogdill joined the Lions in 1960 after turning down being a first-round pick by the AFL’s Dallas Texans. He won the NFL’s Rookie of the Year award, catching 43 passes for 642 yards.

He followed that season up with three consecutive seasons of over 900 receiving yards, including catching 10 touchdowns in 1963. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 1962 and 1963.

His production dropped after the 1963 season, likely due to a knee injury he suffered in 1965, and in 1968 was released by the Lions. He played briefly for the Baltimore Colts and Atlanta Falcons before retiring in 1970.
