Game 1 vs. Florida Gators (at AT&T Stadium)

Michigan will look a little bit different when the kick off the season against Florida at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. They’re set to appear in maize from head to toe with yellow shirts and yellow pants.

The real story here, however, is the rare treat of two traditional football powerhouses squaring off on the field for a regular season (non-conference) game. Michigan has won each of the previous three meetings with Florida — all in bowl games in the state of Florida — with the latest being a 41-7 shellacking in the Citrus Bowl after the 2015 season.

The Wolverines will be putting an (almost) entirely new starting lineup on the field on the defensive side of the ball, but Florida has roster concerns of their own. The Gators have suspended eight players (update: the list of suspended players is up to ten) for the game due to violations of team rules.

It’s not going to be a cake walk, however. Michigan still has a big challenge on their hands, but a win would put them in the conversation for College Football Playoff contention. The Wolverines have opened as the early favorite and would set their season up nicely with a victory in week one.

Prediction: Win (1-0)
