Game 8 vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights

There’s a rule in college football that says you should take it as disrespect if you show up on a team’s schedule as their homecoming week opponent. There’s also a rule in college football that says you should try not to lose a game 78-0.

Rutgers will be Michigan’s homecoming opponent this season. Rutgers lost to Michigan 78-0 a season ago. Michigan disrespects them because they disrespect themselves.

This year’s scoring margin will almost certainly not be that large, but Michigan will almost certainly win the game. According to the Massey Ratings (and probably others), Rutgers was the worst team on Michigan’s schedule last season and they look like the worst team on the schedule again this season. Good thing they’re in the Big Ten though, they’re really taking the conference up a notch.

If Rutgers is within two touchdowns in this game it probably means their season has gone off the rails. Don’t expect that to happen. Michigan should coast to a win here and just about everyone on the sideline could see the field for at least a few snaps. This is a game you look forward to if you’re buried on the depth chart.

Prediction: Win (7-1)
