October 28: at Northwestern

While Michigan State clearly took a step back on defense this offseason, Northwestern is bringing back the vast majority of a team that won seven games and hung 54 points on the Spartans in their 2016 meeting. Yikes.

On the other side of the ball, Brian Lewerke is a better quarterback today than he was when he was pulled in his first start in last year’s meeting and *someone* in that Michigan State receiving corps will have stepped up by this point of the season.

The Spartans will once again be able to run the ball against the Wildcats, but they’re going to need to get at least a few stops to keep this one close. And they’re not going to get them. Northwestern 48 – Michigan State 34 (2-6)
