Detroit Lions: Game-by-game predictions for the 2017 season
By Zac Snyder
Week 8: vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
After a week of rest all eyes will be on Detroit as the Lions welcome the Pittsburgh Steelers to Ford Field for Sunday Night Football. Aside from perhaps the annual Thanksgiving Day game, this figures to be the premier date on the Lions home schedule.
Sunday night games have not been kind to the Lions historically, going just 5-12 since the Lions made their first appearance in the timeslot in 1990. You have to go back to a 20-3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Halloween night in 1999 for the last time the Lions won a Sunday night game.
Hosting the Steelers, the likely favorites in the AFC North, won’t make for an easy task to change the franchise’s Sunday night fortunes. However, the Lions should be in position for a good performance coming off the bye week and with the support of what should be a festive atmosphere for a big game inside Ford Field.
Prediction: Win (3-4)
