Tight End

Start: Jason Witten (vs. New York Giants, ADP:11th)

The Giants give up a ton of catches to wide receivers and are facing the tight end who has the second-most receptions of any tight end in history. Witten will at least get targets, and targets mean chances to score. He’s worth starting, or even playing in your flex depending on your depth, especially with the Irma-related byes this week.

Sit: Eric Ebron (vs. Arizona, ADP: 17th)

I love Ebron’s talent and I think he brings an important dynamic the Lions’ offense. However, he’s coming off an injury and the Lions have other targets to throw to against the team that gave up the fewest points to tight ends in fantasy football last season.

Pickup: Jermaine Gresham (at Detroit, 99.5% available)

Gresham scored at least six points in PPR in all but one game in the last half of 2016 and faces a team chronically known for its inability to keep tight ends in check. If you completely forgot to draft a tight end and you’re looking for streaming options, you could do worse than a guy whose floor is probably a half-dozen points or so with potential for more.

Drop: No one yet, but again, it’s week one

I was tempted to put Eric Ebron (40.6% available) here but even he was starter potential if he recovers from injury and stays ahead of T.J. Jones and Kenny Golladay in targets. If you have more than one tight end, cut your backup unless you’re planning on playing that guy in a flex spot. If you have three or more tight ends, what are you doing?
