The Michigan State Spartans will try to start its 2017 season 2-0 on Saturday as they face the reigning MAC champion Western Michigan Broncos.

Michigan State will look to move to 2-0 as it takes on Western Michigan on Saturday.

Western Michigan is coming off a magical 12-1 season during which they earned a MAC Championship, a trip to the Cotton Bowl and a ranking of #15 in the final AP Poll.

Jon Wassink leads a Broncos offense that loses a lot of pass catchers from a season ago, most notably Tennessee Titan Corey Davis. It was Western’s ground game that gave #4 USC a fight last week in a 48-31 loss, picking up 263 yards on 48 carries.

Michigan State is coming off a 35-10 win over Bowling Green on Saturday. Sophomore quarterback Brian Lewerke looked good in the start, completing 23 of 33 passes for 250 yards and three touchdowns, and led the team in rushing with 69 yards. Starting running back L.J. Scott struggled, averaging 2.6 yards per carry and fumbling.
