Running back

Start: No one

There are no mystery starters this week. There are too many timeshares to try to start anyone who isn’t already starting in 50% of leagues this week. Your flex position should be filled by a receiver in week three, especially in PPR leagues, unless you have three really strong running backs.

Sit: Mike Gillislee (vs. Houston Texans, 56.7%)

Gillislee’s numbers are almost entirely touchdown-dependant. He averages less than three yards per carry and all of his touchdowns have been scored from inside the two-yard line. And given that Bill Belichick famously shuffles his running backs, it’s completely possible that Gillislee’s production sharply declines any week. He’s feast or famine, which you would rather not have at your flex spot before bye weeks.

Pickup: No one

There isn’t anyone out there on less than 50% of rosters who is likely to be startable this week. Keep an eye on how many passing targets Tarik Cohen gets and how many carries Chris Carson gets for future weeks.

Drop: Adrian Peterson (98%)

Peterson is not a good running back anymore and he’s sitting behind Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara in line for carries. He shouldn’t be on any rosters, much less 98% of them.
