The Detroit Red Wings head to Dallas tonight to face the Stars. The Red Wings are coming off a shootout win against Ottawa on Saturday.
The Detroit Red Wings look for their third straight win tonight as they face the Dallas Stars in Dallas.
The Red Wings are coming off a 2-1 shootout victory in Ottawa on Saturday. With the game scoreless late in the third, Martin Frk scored his second goal in as many games to give the Red Wings a 1-0 lead.
But it wouldn’t be a Red Wings game without them blowing a lead. Less than a minute later the Senators tied the game thanks to a Jonathan Ericsson turnover. The game went to a shootout and once again the Red Wings won.
The Red Wings haven’t lost in the shootout since February 20….2016. That’s impressive for a team that was 13-29 in the shootout since 2012-13.
Two players that have been very pleasant surprises so far have been Martin Frk and Jimmy Howard. When the Red Wings waived Frk last year I wrote a very angry piece about how they let another young player go. The Red Wings were lucky to get him back and he’s earned his playing time. He has a rocket of a shot and has looked really good so far.
Jimmy Howard has started both games and he’s been phenomenal in those games as he has made clutch save after clutch save. Howard is expected to get his third start in a row tonight against the Stars. With how well he’s played, he’s definitely the hot hand for the Red Wings right now.
