Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is expected to play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Golladay and others, however, are questionable.

All Systems Go for Stafford

Breathe easy, Detroit Lions fans: Matthew Stafford is fully expected to play when the Lions visit the New Orleans Saints. Stafford muted any questions regarding his availability for Sunday by practicing in full throughout the week.

After exhausting rolls of athletic tape and hobbling his way to the end of last week’s game against the Carolina Panthers, the quarterback’s streak of 101 consecutive starts will continue.

Whew.

The rest of the news on the Lions injury front this week is not so promising.

On Wednesday, the team placed veteran defensive tackle Haloti Ngata on injured reserve due to a biceps injury suffered last week.

To no surprise, linebacker Paul Worrilow (knee) will miss another week due to an MCL sprain suffered two weeks ago. He was the only Lion ruled out.

STATUS: QUESTIONABLE

WR Kenny Golladay

It appears likely that the Lions will hold out their rookie receiver through next week’s bye to allow his hamstring to fully heal. It is a sensible move, though not ideal given the team’s offensive struggles in recent weeks.

Golladay returned to practice this week in limited fashion after missing each of the last two weeks. Although that seems like a step in the right direction, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press tempered expectations for the rookie’s status in a tweet:

"Kenny Golladay not doing anything at Lions practice again."

So much for that. TJ Jones will once again operate as the Lions third wideout against the Saints.

Other Notables

Ezekiel Ansah (knee), T.J. Lang (back), Rick Wagner (shoulder), and Dwayne Washington (quad) practiced in limited fashion all week and listed as questionable. Only Washington is truly questionable after missing the last three weeks, where the rest are expected to play.

Saints Injuries

Tackle Terron Armstead (shoulder), guard Andrus Peat (hip),  and receiver Willie Snead (hamstring) are questionable, as none of them were able to get in more than limited practices this week.
