The Detroit Jock City writers make their predictions for the Detroit Lions’ week nine road game against the Green Bay Packers.

Each week, the Detroit Jock City staff will make their picks for that week’s Detroit Lions game with a quick take on the matchup and a final score.

This week sees the Lions head to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football. Here is what the DJC staff sees for this week’s game against the Packers.

Mike Rizzo (5-2) – The Detroit Lions look to end a three game losing streak tonight in Green Bay. The Lions season,in my opinion, is on the line tonight. This game is a must win especially with Green Bay missing Aaron Rodgers. I think the Lions win tonight but Green Bay keeps it close. Lions 24, Packers 21

Bruce Walker (4-3) – This game has been an (almost) automatic win for the Packers over the past quarter century. In fact, for two-and-a-half decades (26 games including a few at Milwaukee County Stadium), the Packers have won an astounding 96.2% of the time! For this game however, the Packers will not have hero Matt Flynn to throw for 520 yards and five touchdowns. Instead, third-year quarterback Brett Hundley will be at the helm and in his last two outings, he has not shown the capability to stretch the field vertically the way Aaron Rodgers or even Flynn did. In the meantime, the Lions have been able to move the ball but have had problems in finishing drives with touchdowns. The respective defenses are both middle-of-the-pack in points allowed so this one will come down to the quarterback. Give me Matthew Stafford every time. Lions 27, Packers 17

Matt Snyder (4-3) – The Lions are running out of opportunities to make their case for their inclusion in the division race. This week’s battle against the Packers is looking like a must win, but will the Lions be able to overcome their struggles at Lambeau? The Packers always seem to come up with the right answer in this series. Packers 27, Lions 24

Jack Ozark (3-4) – The Lions are in dire need of a win, and they are going somewhere they always have trouble. The Packers may be without Aaron Rodgers, but a backup Packers quarterback has fried the Lions before. So I think this game is closer than expected. The Lions really need to get the running game going, but I doubt that happens this week. Still, I think the Lions actually score a touchdown or two in this game (hopefully a redzone one too), and the defense continues to cause problems for opposing teams. So I’ll say that the Lions end Monday with a win in Lambeau. Lions 17, Packers 10

Zac Snyder (3-4) – The longer I am a Lions fan the harder it is not to give in to the mindset that certain things are impossible for this franchise just because they are the Lions. Expecting a win at Green Bay is one of those. The Lions finally got a road win over the Packers for the first time in my adult lifetime in 2015, but skeptical side of me prevents me from predicting another – even without Aaron Rodgers in the lineup. Packers 20, Lions 16

Zack Caldwell (3-4) – No pick

Colton Wesley (2-5) – No pick

Matt Bosko (2-5) – Imagine a world where the Detroit Lions learned from their mistakes and executed a flawless game plan. That is a world I hope to be apart of one day, and if a fantasy version of that is all I have to get me through this Monday night, then so be it. I see Matthew Stafford taking control of this game from start to finish. Green Bay is vulnerable without Aaron Rodgers, and the Lions understand that a loss here places their entire season in jeopardy. I believe that the Lions will play a complete game on all sides of the ball, and use this as momentum for a critical stretch run. Lions 24, Packers 10

Ash Thompson (2-5) – The Packers have shown that their team runs through Aaron Rodgers at this point but the Lions are not good enough to look past anyone. This is far from an automatic win Monday night. Lions 18, Packers 13
