The Detroit Jock City writers make their predictions for the Detroit Lions’ week ten home game against the Cleveland Browns.

Each week, the Detroit Jock City staff will make their picks for that week’s Detroit Lions game with a quick take on the matchup and a final score.

This week sees the Lions host the 0-8 Cleveland Browns. Here is what the DJC staff sees for this week’s game against the Packers.

Mike Rizzo (6-2) – The Lions are coming off a dominant win against the Packers on Monday night. The Lions shouldn’t have a problem with the Browns. I see the Lions winning this pretty easily. Lions 31, Browns 10

Bruce Walker (5-3) – The Browns fly 90 miles across Lake Erie to attempt to shatter their winless streak, which extends into last season. In fact, they have won exactly four games out of the past forty, with three of those wins being procured all the way back during the 2015 season. The Lions, in the meantime, are feeling good after their solid Monday night win at Lambeau field against the Green Bay Packers. Incidentally, the Lions have now taken two of the last three in Wisconsin! The Browns have a decent defense, allowing an average of only two more points per game than the Lions. The Browns have come within three points in four of their games this year, one of which was against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who coincidentally beat the Lions by five points in Detroit. The Lions are 1-3 at home this year and 3-1 on the road. That is not the kind of home-field advantage that make you feel all cozy. This is also the kind of game that the Lions would have lost a few short years ago. They should beat the Browns, who are desperate for their first win and I believe that they will. Lions 35, Browns 13

Matt Snyder (4-4) – The time is nigh for the Lions to make their run if they hope to make the playoffs this season. Their route to postseason glory would seem to come easiest through winning the division so they’re going to have to keep step with the Vikings and find every opportunity to gain ground. Luckily for the Lions, the Cleveland Browns are one of the worst teams in football. The Lions are not an elite team by any stretch of the imagination, but they’re far past the “Same Old Lions” of the last decade. They need to prove that this week by hammering the hapless Browns. The Lions absolutely cannot lose this game. Lions 30, Browns 17

Jack Ozark (4-4) – Matthew Stafford is amazing and I don’t think he’s ever coming down from this. He fried the Packers last week, and I think he’s going to fry the the Browns this week. I mean he did it as a rookie, so I don’t think there is a reason he wouldn’t do it again now that he’s a seasoned vet. This time though, the Lions are better and the Browns are worse, so everything is telling me that the Lions have an easy time getting this win.

I think the defense comes out strong as well. Glover Quin playing against a young quarterback is going to be so fun to watch. I don’t know which young quarterback, because I don’t think the Browns even know who they want to use. But that doesn’t matter to Glover since he’s the best safety in football. Lions 31, Browns 13

Zac Snyder (3-5) – I was admittedly worried about last week’s game at Green Bay as the kind of game the Lions should win on paper but have struggled to win in reality. The “same old Lions”
crowd is taking that stance this week but it isn’t deserved based on what we’ve seen in the Caldwell era.
Under Caldwell, the Lions have taken care of business against the teams they should beat. Their struggles have come against good teams, of which the Browns are not. Lions 27, Browns 13

Zack Caldwell (3-5) – The Detroit Lions are in a favorable spot to make a move for the NFC North. With a road win over the hated Green Bay Packers, and the next two games against losing teams, this is prime position for the Lions. There is not much to say about that the Cleveland Browns, other than it is a horrid organization and management. I have little faith the Browns can win this game. That is dangerous to say considering the NFL is full of parity, but the Lions are the better team. Let Matthew Stafford loose, get pressure on the quarterback, and get over .500. This should be an easy task on Sunday. Lions 30, Browns 13

Matt Bosko (3-5) – The Lions franchise and their fan base should expect nothing less than a substantial victory on Sunday. After an emotional road win on Monday Night Football over the Packers, I fully expect them to carry that momentum against a hapless Cleveland Browns team. I do believe, however, that the Lions will continue to struggle to run the football. While the Browns are currently winless, they have serious talent on the defensive line, which includes top pick Myles Garrett. Their defense ranks fourth in the league against the run, allowing just 84.2 YPG.

The good news for the Lions is that Matthew Stafford looks fresh and comfortable in the pocket recently, and that can only improve with the return of Taylor Decker. I believe the Lions are going to punish the Browns through the air in this contest. It’s not all about the offense for the Lions. Their defense has performed at a high level all season long, while the Browns’ offense has been dismal at best. I wouldn’t be surprised if Glover Quin comes away with a couple of interceptions against rookie DeShone Kizer before it’s all said and done. Lions 31, Browns 9

Ash Thompson (3-5) – No pick

Colton Wesley (3-5) – No pick
