The #17 Michigan State Spartans host the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday to stay in contention for a New Year’s Six bowl game.
The #17 Michigan State Spartans will look to recover from a difficult loss and try to remain in the New Year’s Six bowl race as they host the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday in East Lansing.
The Spartans, led by quarterback Brian Lewerke, are coming off a 48-3 loss to the #9 Ohio State Buckeyes a week ago. The Spartans were held to 195 total yards of offense in the loss while the Buckeyes rolled off 524, averaging about eight yards per play.
The Terrapins have lost five of their last six games and are a long shot to reach a bowl game, needing wins over the Spartans and #10 Penn State Nittany Lions next week to clinch a berth. Ty Johnson and Lorenzo Harrison III anchor the team’s offense, combining for 1,282 rushing yards and seven touchdowns this season, and wide receiver D.J. Moore paces the passing game with 64 catches for 857 yards and eight touchdowns.
