Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears: What to watch for in week 15
By Jack Ozark
The Detroit Lions are in the home stretch now. Let’s look at what to watch for in week 15 as the Chicago Bears come to town.
The Detroit Lions won a must-win game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. Now they get to return to Detroit and host the Chicago Bears for the final time this season.
The Lions won the first matchup, and the Bears will probably love to be the reason the Lions don’t make the playoffs, so let’s look into some keys for this game.
1. Uniforms
Okay, this one might feel weird because it really doesn’t have too much to do with the play. But style points count in my book, so it does have to do with the play a tad. The Lions are going to wear their all grey alternates for the first time ever this week and I AM EXCITED.
Look good, play good is the mantra, and I think the Lions will check off both of those boxes. I mean, it’s grey on grey with some blue highlights. And that’s going to look swaggy as ever.
Most importantly, if the Lions win in these uniforms it means they will be undefeated in their alternate uniforms, which is always one of my favorite stat categories.
2. Running Backs
The Lions have a running back problem. It’s been obvious for years. The Bears have stellar running backs. It feels like they have for years. These facts need to be flipped for the Lions on Sunday though.
Everything going on with Ameer Abdullah is just weird. I have no idea what this team is doing with him. Has he been great? No. Is he the best back on this team? Probably. Yet he didn’t play last week and there isn’t a perfect reason as to why.
Theo Riddick has played well recently, but other than last week he hasn’t been stellar. It’ll be interesting to see if that keeps up, but I highly doubt that happens. Another bad week from the running game could mean that the Lions look to the draft to fix the running game. Honestly, even that might not help.
3. Fresh Defensive Faces
Some new faces made some plays for the Lions last Sunday. I for one didn’t think these new additions would work out as well as they did either. A second week of having a lot of Teez Tabor in at cornerback and a lot of Quandre Diggs as safety should be interesting.

They both played pretty well last week, and hopefully, this can continue for the playoff push. The Team created 5 turnovers last week, which was their most of the season. And having these two young players making plays and helping to cause turnovers could only help the team for the future. No matter who the coordinators are.
