Paul Worrilow

The Lions linebacking corps has gone through significant change over the last year as the team moved on from DeAndre Levy, shifted Tahir Whitehead back outside and drafted Jarrad Davis to immediately take over in the middle while also adding Jalen Reeves-Maybin as linebacker depth for the future with a fourth round pick.

Bringing in Paul Worrilow on a one-year deal felt like a stopgap from the very beginning and nothing has changed to suggest otherwise.

It’s still a position in flux as Davis has often struggled during his rookie season and Whitehead, like Worrilow, is set to become a free agent this offseason. Whitehead is a holdover from the pre-Quinn days but it was Quinn who brought him back on a two-year deal and it wouldn’t be a surprise for Quinn to look to keep Whitehead, who has been the team’s best linebacker this season, a Lion beyond this season.

The team is committed to Davis and is better off rounding out their linebacking corps by re-signing Whitehead and younger players with more upside than Worrilow.
