Detroit Lions injury report: Week 17 vs. Green Bay Packers
By Matt Bosko
The Detroit Lions ruled out cornerback Nevin Lawson, and defensive end Anthony Zettel is questionable for Sunday’s finale against the Green Bay Packers.
The Detroit Lions have been dealing with injuries up and down the roster all season long in the midst of a playoff push.
So it makes perfect sense that coming into a meaningless Week 17 contest against the Green Bay Packers, the Lions are near full strength.
It’s just so Lions.
Anyway…
Travis Swanson‘s season officially came to an end on Friday, as the Lions placed him on injured reserve for the second straight year due to concussion symptoms. The fourth-year center’s future with the Lions and with football in general, is certainly in doubt.
The Lions insist that this game is worth playing for, and the fact that no veterans plan to sit speaks to that point.
STATUS: OUT
CB Nevin Lawson
Speaking of concussions, Nevin Lawson will miss Sunday’s game thanks to one suffered last weekend at Cincinnati. Anyone who saw the play will agree that the Lions’ cornerback looked shaken up at best, and it’s not surprising that he is out against the Packers.

He did not practice at all, and when it comes to brain injuries, there’s just no reason to risk it with one meaningless week remaining on the schedule. D.J. Hayden will start in his place on Sunday.
STATUS: QUESTIONABLE
DE Anthony Zettel
Anthony Zettel (groin) was a limited participant in practice on Friday. The second-year edge rusher has made the most of his expanded role this season, and what’s more impressive is his durability. He has played in all 15 games this year, and hopes to keep the streak alive Sunday.
PACKERS LIMPING INTO WEEK 17
If you thought it was frustrating that the Lions lost to the Bengals last weekend, it’s about to look a lot worse. If the Lions needed to beat the Packers to sneak into the playoffs, they would be facing a shell of their vaunted rivals.
The Packers ruled out six key players for Sunday’s game. Maybe you’ve heard of a few of them:
Wide receivers Jordy Nelson (shoulder) and DeVante Adams (concussion), guard Jahri Evans (knee), running back Aaron Jones (knee), tight end Richard Rodgers (shoulder), and linebacker Nick Perry (ankle/shoulder).
Next: The case for keeping Jim Caldwell
Four more players are questionable, including WR Geronimo Allison, LB Clay Matthews, and CB Damarious Randall.
Oh, and some guy named Aaron Rodgers is on injured reserve.
It’s just…
…so Lions.
