Detroit Pistons: Andre Drummond gets All-Star snub and he’s not happy about it
By Zac Snyder
The 2018 NBA All-Stars were announced on Tuesday night and Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond was not among the selections. The big man’s not happy.
Andre Drummond has been one of the Detroit Pistons‘ biggest bright spots in the first half of the season. The big man has only gotten better since signing a max contract prior to last season and that’s especially been on display this season with his drastic improvement at the free throw line.
Despite currently sitting with a career-high 15 rebounds per game to make him the league-leading rebounder, as well as the league’s best in terms of defensive rating, defensive win shares and defensive box plus/minus, Drummond was not among the players selected to the 2018 NBA All-Star game Tuesday evening.
Apparently being among the NBA’s best defensive players isn’t sexy enough to earn a spot in the annual showcase most known for its lack of defense.
Drummond had some choice tweets in the immediate aftermath of the All-Star announcement.
While it sucks for Drummond to miss out on an honor he arguably deserved, it could work out just fine for the Pistons if this fuels a motivated Drummond over the last three months of the season. The Pistons have cooled significantly as injuries set in after the team had been one of the pleasant surprises of the early part of the season.
The Pistons currently sit a game under .500 and on the outside of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference, one game back of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Instead of the usual East vs. West format, this year’s squads will be determined by a draft picked by top vote-getters LeBron James and Steph Curry. The 2018 NBA All-Star Game will be played on February 18 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
