Detroit Tigers kick off Winter Caravan with surprising uniform news

The Detroit Tigers have one of the most classic, iconic home uniforms in all of baseball but the look will get some changes for the 2018 season.
The Detroit Tigers‘ home uniform has remained virtually unchanged for decades. It is one baseball’s classic looks, but it will look a little different in 2018.
As the team kicked off their 2018 Winter Caravan that will take players, coaches and other personnel around the state, the team announced some changes to the iconic home uniform.
While the overall look will generally remain the same, there will be some noticeable differences. The biggest of which will be the logo appearing on the chest. While some fans may never have noticed, the team actually has two versions of the Olde English D.
There is the cap version, the more modern of the two, and the jersey version, which a more rounded look. Starting in 2018, the cap version will also be used on the jersey.
The team sent a tweet announcing the changes with a brief video explaining he history of the team’s uniform and the changes for 2018, narrated by Dan Dickerson.
Adding to the change will be a larger logo on the cap. The team used a subsequent tweet to provide a side-by-side of the 2017 uniforms and the new uniforms for 2018.

The annual Winter Caravan takes team personnel on a quick tour of the state, culminating with TigerFest at Comerica Park. This year’s caravan is split between two buses – one that will stick around the Detroit metro area and a second bus that will make stops out state.
