Andre Drummond makes All-Star team as injury replacement
By Zac Snyder
Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond was an All-Star snub when the initial rosters were announced but he has been added as an injury replacement.
To say Andre Drummond wasn’t happy to be an All-Star snub is an understatement. Though deserving, his snub left the Detroit Pistons without an All-Star and Drummond took to twitter shortly after the initial rosters were announced to voice his displeasure.
Drummond channeled that frustration the right way, going out the next night to post his best game of the season. It went down as a loss for the team but Drummond can’t take the blame for that as he went off for 30 points, 24 rebounds, six blocks, four assists and three steals.
Time to turn that frown upside down, Andre.
With John Wall on the shelf following a knee procedure, a spot on the All-Star squad opened up. The league announced today that commissioner Adam Silver has selected Drummond as the replacement. Drummond will take Wall’s spot on the All-Star team drafted by LeBron James.
Wall is just one of now three All-Stars who will have to miss the game due to injury. DeMarcus Cousins will miss the game after rupturing his Achilles tendon and Kevin Love will be out several weeks after an x-ray revealed a non-displaced fracture in his hand. Paul George was named as the replacement for Cousins. A replacement for Love has yet to be named.
Coincidentally, all three were to play on the team picked by LeBron. The All-Star Game might turn out to be more like like the All-Star replacements vs. the original All-Stars than Team LeBron vs. Team Steph Curry.
