Former Detroit Lions linebacker Kyle Van Noy caught in Super Bowl media prank
By Zac Snyder
USA Today Sports asked several players for their thoughts on the roof being open for Super Bowl LII. Former Lions LB Kyle Van Noy was one who was pranked.
Not everything surrounding the Super Bowl is all business, all the time. It’s a long week leading up to the game and sometimes there needs to be a little something special interjected in between the repeat questions and answers.
USA Today Sports provided some lighthearted moments at last night’s Super Bowl Opening Night media event, going around asking their thoughts about the roof having to be open for the game due to a malfunction. That would be a huge problem given the frigid temperatures expected on Super Bowl Sunday. But the even bigger problem with the question is that U.S. Bank Stadium doesn’t even have a retractable roof.
Apparently none of the players caught on to the fact that the scenario was faulty to begin with, including former Detroit Lions linebacker Kyle Van Noy.
Trysta Krick made the rounds with the rounds with the prank question and the players seemed to take it in stride, apparently unaware that the stadium has a fixed roof. You can check out the video in the tweet below.
In fairness to Van Noy, the question posed to him initially mentioned the doors being stuck open, which could technically happen because large glass doors facing the Minneapolis downtown is one of the stadium’s main features. However, those open doors probably wouldn’t have a drastic effect on the overall indoor temperature and Van Noy can’t be let off the hook for the prank because Krick did follow up with a mention of the roof.

And Van Noy shouldn’t feel bad as he certainly wasn’t alone in falling for the prank. The players gave the right answer about not be impacted by the cold but a sense of relief was obvious when Krick revealed that it was all a joke.
