The Western Michigan Broncos and Cincinnati Bearcats have announced a two-game football series to take place in 2020 and 2022.

Future Western Michigan football schedules are starting to take shape. The Broncos had just one game on the schedule for 2020 and beyond – at Notre Dame on September 19, 2020 – but they’ve now extended their future schedule to 2022.

Western Michigan announced a series with Cincinnati to be played in 2020 and 2022. The series begins with the Broncos heading to Cincinnati on September 12, 2020 before getting to host the return game on September 10, 2022.

These will be the fourth and fifth meetings between Western Michigan and Cincinnati and the first since the 2007 International Bowl. The only two regular season meetings between the two came back in 1949 and 1950. Cincinnati is 3-0 all time against Western Michigan.

The home game with Cincinnati is the first non-conference game on the Broncos’ 2022 schedule and no matchups for 2021 have been announced as of yet. According to Tony Paul of the Detroit News, Purdue and Northwestern are possibilities to fill some of those openings. Both schools have open slots in their non-conference schedules from 2020-2022, although Northwestern already has a MAC opponent scheduled in each of those years.

The Broncos will start their 2018 football season with a non-conference slate that includes Syracuse (home on September 1), Michigan (road on September 8), Delaware (home on September 15) and Georgia State (road on September 22).
