Michigan State basketball: Spartans look to extend tournament run vs. Syracuse
By Zac Snyder
The Michigan State basketball team looks to move on to the Sweet 16 when they take on the Syracuse Orange in the second round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
The Michigan State Spartans went into their NCAA Tournament opener as heavy favorites over Bucknell. It goes in the books as just a four-point win but the final score doesn’t do service to the way the Spartans controlled much of the game.
A lot of credit for that control goes to Miles Bridges who was active and effective, scoring a game-high 29 points while adding nine rebounds and four assists. It was the kind of big performance in a big spot many fans have been wanting to see more often from Bridges. Play like that will have the Spartans advancing deep into this tournament.
Next up in the way of that tournament run is the Syracuse Orange, who advanced by upsetting TCU in the 6-11 game in the Friday nightcap at Little Caesars Arena.
Can the Spartans solve the vaunted Syracuse zone? Will a heavily pro-Michigan State crowd be the difference? Can Bridges go Superman again?
