Round Seven: Greg Senat, offensive tackle, Wagner

Offensive tackle Greg Senat will be on an NFL practice squad for the entire 2018 season. He spent two seasons at Wagner on the basketball team before switching to Football. He is an athletic, and long athlete who needs to put on muscle mass. At 6’6″, and 302 lbs he has the weight, but he needs to improve his functional strength before setting foot on an NFL field. Out of the box, Senat is a victim at the NFL level.

he is a smooth athlete with an impressive kick slide for someone at his level of competition. Senat was a fierce competitor at the East-West Shrine game practices. He proved that there was a football player inside this athlete.  Senat has technical deficiencies that rob him of leverage, however. He leans too far forward, and he bends at the waist to lunge at opponents.

Senat offers little value as a rookie, but with good coaching looks like a very good developmental prospect. He met with the Lions at the East-West Shrine Game. They were watching when he showed up to play against higher competition. Senat needs to add some nastiness to his game.

Mock draft summary:

Isaiah Wynn, OL, Georgia

Lorenzo Carter, Edge, Georgia

Rashaad Penny, RB, SDSU

Kyle Lauletta, QB, Richmond

Tim Settle, DT, Virginia Tech

no pick

Greg Senat, OT, Wagner

Next: What to hate about the Detroit Pistons season

There is no tight end on this list. Historically Bob Quinn has drafted only players that he has met with, and the only tight end that the Lions have met with announced his retirement from football on March 18. I am not going to predict that he will diverge from that history in this case. I think the Lions will fill that hole in free agency. If the Detroit Lions bring in tight ends for visits, they may appear on my pre-draft final mock draft.
