Michigan Wolverines play for the Final Four vs. Florida State
By Zac Snyder
A spot in the Final Four is on the line as the Michigan Wolverines and Florida State Seminoles meet in the 2018 NCAA Tournament West Regional Final tonight.
The Michigan Wolverines probably didn’t want their Sweet 16 game against Texas A&M to end. It was one of those nights where everything went right on both ends of the floor, propelling the Michigan basketball team into the West Regional Final to meet the Florida State Seminoles.
The Wolverines have exceeded even the wildest of preseason expectations but there shouldn’t be a “just happy to be here” attitude with this squad. For one, they’ve shown themselves to legitimately be among the game’s best this season. Add in a favorable path to Monday night’s championship game and expectations have to be raised.
But before they can get to Monday night they have to get through the next two Saturday nights, starting with the West Regional final. Standing in the way of Michigan and a second Final Four in six years is Florida State. The Seminoles have faced a tougher path to get to the regional final, including wins over top-seeded Xavier and fourth-seeded Gonzaga.
The Seminoles should be respected, but not feared as the Wolverines enter as clear favorites. Vegas has Michigan giving 4.5 points while computer models peg them at a win probability between 67–68%.
