Round 4

The Lions have added options to fill their one vacant starting spot on the offensive line interior but no clear-cut answer. The good news is they have flexibility with Graham Glasgow able to slide to center to take over for the departed Travis Swanson or he could remain at left guard where he settled in nicely as a solid starter last season.

Glasgow’s presence means the Lions can continue to be open-minded about adding a guard or center in the draft and having Frank Ragnow available here in the fourth round was a dream scenario. Honestly, don’t be surprised if Ragnow comes off the board well before this when the picks get made for real.

The 6’5″, 309 pound Ragnow has the ability to play guard or center but projects best at center. He made starts at both positions at Arkansas so neither is foreign to him.

He’s coming off a season-ending ankle injury so he deferred any pre-draft workouts to the Arkansas pro day instead of pushing it at the NFL Combine. His workout reportedly went well according to Hawgs247:

"Ragnow set personal bests in the vertical jump (33.5 inches) and broad jump (9 feet, 7 inches), which would have ranked second among offensive linemen at the combine. His 40-yard dash time of 4.98 would have been fifth, while his 27 bench press reps would have tied for eighth."

Ragnow isn’t regarded as a super-athlete so his task was just to show that his ankle has healed and that there aren’t any athleticism concerns. Check and check.
