Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles try to squeeze game in ahead of Wednesday weather
By Devin Jones
With the weather being an issue for the past week the Detroit Tigers have moved up the start time of today’s game against the Baltimore Orioles.
After getting the 4-2 win last night in Detroit, the Detroit Tigers look to make it two in a row over the visiting Baltimore Orioles. With nasty weather moving into the Detroit area tonight, the Tigers organization made a scheduling change to today’s game.
The Detroit Tigers face off against the 5-12 Baltimore Orioles, who sit fourth in a competitive American League East Division. The Orioles are led by prize shortstop Manny Machado who is hitting .309 on the year.
After hitting a home run last night, Victor Martinez looks to continue to keep his bat hot in today’s game. Martinez is batting .310 on the year with one home run and eight runs batted in. V-Mart looks to put another win in the column for the Tigers.
Matchups
The pitching matchup for today’s game is Kevin Gausman at. Matthew Boyd from the heart of Detroit this afternoon. Gausman comes in with a 1-1 record with a 6.60 earned run average in 15 innings pitched. Also, Gausman is averaging one strikeout an inning. Boyd comes in with a 0-1 record with an outstanding 1.38 earned run average in 13 innings pitched. The downside to Boyd this year is, he only has five strikeouts to start the season in 13 innings.
Game time change
As all Tigers fans know it has been a hard week to watch Tigers baseball. Besides playing last night, the last time the Tigers played was Friday due to the snow and ice storm that hit the Midwest and East Region of the Country.
Due to another ice, rain, and sleet storm coming again tonight, the Detroit Tigers officials announced this morning that instead of a 7 o’clock game time, they were moving it up to make sure they can get the game in today and give the fans the past experience possible.
Instead of the game at the normal 7:05 p.m. start time, officials moved the game time to 1:05 this afternoon.
