It is a slow Detroit Lions news week. This is the best of what did come out this week about the team’s past, present, and future.

Devon Kennard‘s dad played 13 professional football seasons between the NFL and USFL. Dave Birkett goes over what The Detroit Lions’ pass rusher’s home life was like as he was growing up. He covers the ways Kennard avoided restrictions on his behavior by not needing them. Kennard clearly idolized his father growing up. It is a good read during a slow news week.

For fans of the team’s history, this Billy Sims interview is fun to listen to. Sims is candid about the fact that football was not his first love in sports. He also reveals his greatest wish about his career. He does all this while being barraged with inappropriate Reddit usernames that precede questions. Do not listen to this at work out loud. But do listen to this Lions legend in an interview full of laughs.

Tim Twentyman holds a closest to the pin competition for Lions players during the offseason. Jarrad Davis took his shot at glory along with his teammates. Davis is not an avid golfer, but true athletes excel in all sports. After putting his first shot in the trees, Davis ended up at the top of the leaderboard.

Tracey Walker wishes he could teleport. He loves tacos, The Fast and the Furious movie franchise, and he excels at acrobatic flipping. Walker’s bio on the Lions site is an interesting read.

Zack Moran took a look at a trade option for the Lions and the options that the Lions have to them in the supplemental draft. He made pre-training camp predictions on who will, and who will not make the Lions 53 man roster on the offensive side of the ball.

Rob Kish profiled Frank Ragnow’s possible impact for the Lions. If you want to get hyped about the Lions 2018 first round pick, reading this article will do it for you.

Matt Bosko continued his series of deeper looks at the position groups with Linebackers, and cornerbacks. Safeties get a look Saturday.

I took a look at whether Bob Quinn has done enough this offseason to fix the Lions running game. I summarized Ameer Abdullah‘s career, took a stark look at the future I see for him, and offered a view on how he can change it.

There is not a lot of news between OTA’s minicamps, and training camp, but we are continuing to cover the Lions through the black hole where beat writers, players, and coaches take vacations.
