Jarrad Davis

If there is one player that can have a break out season this year its Davis. Last year, Davis led all rookies in tackles with 96. He seemed to grasp the game quicker towards the end of last season. Going through last season, his responsibilities lessened.  It allowed him to show the potential to be a Pro Bowl player. He finished the year as one of the top linebackers in the league.

With the expectations of how the defense will run this year, it will allow Davis to flourish. Last year, the scheme leaned on the linebackers in pass coverage. That has never been Davis’ game; even during his days at Florida. This year, the scheme will allow Davis to show his strenth as a run defender and he will be relied on less in pass coverage.

Coach Patricia has a knack of getting the most out of his linebackers. He will take Davis and mold him into the player he is capable of being. He will know how to use Davis to his strengths while hiding his weaknesses. If Davis is able to put everything together, he could solidify his status as a three-down linebacker and cornerstone for the Detroit Lions defense for years to come.

If he is able to become an every-down linebacker, with the help of a coach with a linebacker pedigree and a scheme that is better suited for his play style; I don’t see why not. Davis could make the Pro Bowl this season.
