Mini Marvin

Folks at training camp will not stop talking about Teo Redding. That has been the case all season. He is outplaying and outworking the Lions fourth-string defense. He is returning kicks. Prior to any sort of contact, he looks great.

Marvin Jones has also had a very minor injury only two days into camp. That is going to give players an opportunity to get reps in situations they might not otherwise get. The kid from Bowling Green is about the right size and speed to simulate Marvin Jones in a live rep.

If the team was looking to go easy on a star player with a minor injury, letting the rookie take a rep or two isn’t a bad way to go. The two also trained together during the offseason so you might expect the kid to have picked up a few mannerisms from the Lions number one receiver.

He already did some of the things Jones is known for. He is great in 50/50 ball situations. He adjusts his speed to get his hands to where the ball is going to be rather than just running fast and contorting his body to catch an imperfect throw. he has a lot of traits that you can’t teach.

Redding has a legitimate opportunity to make the 53 man roster. Jones, Golden Tate, Kenny Golladay, and T.J. Jones will almost assuredly be the top four receivers, but that fifth spot is wide open.

Next. Four Lions players that have flown under the radar. dark

Undrafted players are the darlings of the preseason. In 2018 Lions fans are going to pick one of these three players to latch on to.
