The Michigan State football team looks to go 2-0 on the year

The Michigan State Football team head west this week to take on their fellow undefeated Arizona State Sun Devils.
The Michigan State football team have gone all the way in Tempe Arizona this week to take on the Arizona State Sun Devils in a late one. Both teams won their season opener, and are looking to take their season to a 2-0 record. The game will be on ESPN and WWJ-AM 760 radio at 10:45 PM.
The Spartans take a lengthy injury list into the game. The Sun Devils can say the same. Between the two squads, 23 players are listed as probable or worse. Highlighting the Spartans list is Cole Chewins, the team’s starting left tackle.
That does not bode well for the Spartans as the Sun Devils racked up nine sacks in their first game of the year. Two members of the Sun Devils defense already have multiple sacks on the season. Spartans quarterback Brian Lewerke will need to utilize his mobility to be successful this week.
The Sun Devils allowed only two rushing yards in their opener. I fully expect Connor Heyward and co. to find more running room than that this weekend, despite the offensive line being down a man.
The Spartans defense gave up some yardage in the opener, they were particularly susceptible to chunk plays. The Sun Devils ate up over 500 yards in their opener, but it was against UTSA. They will not find such easy pickings in the Spartans defense this week.
This should be an interesting quarterback duel. Lewerke has all the hype on his side, but Manny Wilkins is a fifth-year senior with multiple years starting under center. Vegas likes Lewerke’s chances of coming out on top.
Oddsshark has the over/under at 53 points, and I would take the over all day. The Spartans are six-point favorites Saturday night in the desert. It would appear that they have a pretty good shot at reaching 2-0 on the season.
