Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines football program recently landed a couple of four-star recruits, but the name many of us will recognize comes in the form of a three-star commitment.

The Michigan Wolverines received a commitment from three-star defensive end, Kris Jenkins.  Yes, the son of former Carolina Panthers/ New York Jets stand-out defensive tackle Kris Jenkins Sr.  If Jenkins is anything like his father Jim Harbaugh and company are in for a world of good starting in 2020.

Jenkins, similar to his father, is a d-lineman but plays as a defensive end rather than an interior force.  Jenkins is ranked as the 18th best player coming out of the State of Maryland; he also received offers from the Universities of Maryland (where his father played), Michigan State, Northwestern, & Penn State according to the Detroit News.

Although defensive coordinator Don Brown has had his struggles, most recently against Ohio State in the season finale and once again in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.  Ohio State in Urban Meyer’s coaching finale in the series completed his perfect record against the Wolverines going 7-0.  Meyer trounced Michigan to the tune of 62-39.  Michigan followed it up with another embarrassing loss to Florida 41-15.

Under the direction of Jim Harbaugh, Don Brown has churned out his fair share of high-end defensive prospects.  Most recently Rashan Gary, Devin Bush Jr, Chase Winovich and David Long were all drafted in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Along with Jenkins, the Michigan Wolverines also received a commitment from four-star outside linebacker Kalel Mullings.  The linebacker is ranked as the top prospect out of Massachusetts, and also in an article posted by the Detroit News, ranked as the 9th overall outside linebacking prospect in the country.

In addition to the two defensive prospects, the Michigan Wolverines added a pair of four-star offensive weapons.  The Wolverines are in dire need of an impact running back; the hope is Blake Corum from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore will be just that. It’s just too bad Mullings won’t be able to contribute next season especially with Chis Evans who was expected to be the lead back with Higdon moving on being suspended for the entire 2019 season due to an academic issue.

"“Corum has burst, can change direction at a high speed, is patient in waiting for plays to develop and he knows how to set up his blocks down the field,” according to 247Sports East Coast analyst Brian Dohn. “He is elusive, and he runs with power. He has the speed to get to the edge, and the balance to turn the corner.”"

The Wolverines also landed four-star wide-receiver Roman Wilson from Hawaii.  The Michigan Wolverines have a dynamic group of wide-outs anchored by Donovan Peoples-Jones, Tarik Black & Nico Collins.  Wilson who apparently runs a sub 4.40, is ranked as the 59th wide-out coming out but with a little fine tuning and the right system maybe OC Josh Gattis will turn Wilson into a player who can anchor the next wave of prospects.

dark. Next. It’s now or never for Jim Harbaugh

The Michigan Wolverines need to continue to fill the cupboard with top prospects, with Urban Meyer gone the door is wide open for Michigan in the Big Ten.  The Michigan State Spartans always play the Wolverines tough, Ohio State is still OSU, but with the majority of the teams’ big games including Notre Dame happening in Ann Arbor, this is the best opportunity for Jimmy to elevate his club into the NCAAF playoff finally.
