It appears Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden currently loves his third-string quarterback Nathan Peterman.  You never know what Gruden is going to do, he’s a bit of a wildcard.  I mean he traded away Khalil Mack and then said he needed to find himself an elite pass-rusher.  Umm, ok, Jon.

At the moment Mike Glennon is slotted in as the Raiders second-string quarterback but if Peterman somehow unseats him that could leave Glennon available for a very affordable price ($1 million).  Glennon isn’t going to move the needle much, but he’d provide the Lions with some stability.  It wasn’t that long ago Glennon was one of the most desirable free agent quarterbacks available.

Glennon started his NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2013.  He started 13 games, completing 60% of his passes, throwing for 2608 yards.  He threw for 19 touchdowns and 9 interceptions en route to a 4-9 record with the reeling Bucs.

Glennon remained in Tampa Bay until 2017 when the Chicago Bears signed him as a free agent to be their starter.  It only took four games before head coach John Fox opted to go with rookie Mitchell Trubisky which signaled the end for Glennon. Mike ended up in Arizona last season backing up rookie Josh Rosen.

Now Glennon is fighting in Oakland to try and fend off Nathan Peterman.  Glennon is currently 29-years old and could be a reliable backup to Matt Stafford if he falls down the Raiders depth chart.  Over the course of his career, he’s shown those flashes of brilliance and like Hoyer has the tools to win a game if called upon.  He’s not a guy you’d like as your starter but as an insurance policy.
