The premise of this article is exploring possibilities and not factoring in much else. Christin Stewart is not the prettiest defensively, but the Tigers could explore the idea of moving him to first.

Stewart may not be a prospect anymore, but the Detroit Tigers do not have any substantial first baseman prospects within the system. So instead of writing about a low-range prospect who cannot make his way off the Single-A roster. Proposing a Christin Stewart is the next best thing as he is the closest to a “prospect” in this case.

Stewart has been in the lineup for eighty-one games this season, posting a .231/.329/.393 slash line with seven home runs and thirty-three RBI for the Tigers. Stewart was one of the more renowned and highly touted prospects in the Tigers farm system but has yet to show signs of life at the big league level.

Currently, Stewart is battling a concussion but has been rehabbing and is expected back before the end of August which will give him about a month to pick up his stats and hopefully show some skills. As mentioned above, Stewart has not shown any signs of life, it merely means for being one of the more renowned young talents in the system he has not done a whole lot to impress so far. He hits the ball hard with the raw power in his swing, and that is what the Tigers are banking on as his selling point.

Just like Nicholas Castellanos, Stewart is a defensive liability who does not field well or have a great arm, a move to first base may be in his favor. Exploring the idea allows for other outfield prospects to have a chance to impress, but Stewart’s future in the outfield does not look the best, first base may be a better fit.
