Detroit Tigers: Forecasting The Best Prospects At Each Position
By Tyler Kotila
The final outfielder that could have the best shot of finding himself in the big league lineup is Parker Meadows. Meadows might be one of the most exciting position player prospects in the organization currently, even with Greene tearing it up as his teammate.
Brother of Tampa Bay Rays outfielder, Austin Meadows, Parker could find himself patrolling the outfield for the Detroit Tigers one day. Meadows is nineteen years old, a product of the 2018 MLB Amateur Draft where the Detroit Tigers selected him in the second round. The Tigers have bounced him between three different affiliates during his time with the organization.
Currently, Meadows is playing alongside 2019 first rounder Greene with Single-A West Michigan. In 111 games he has posted a .232/.307/.331 slash line with seven home runs and thirty-eight RBI with twelve stolen bases. He is perhaps the strongest projectable player, with Cameron being at the Triple-A level. The Tigers seemingly know what he will transition into in the general sense, with Meadows there’s so much to be excited about. Meadows can hit, can run, and can fields all of his tools are projected as top tier.
Meadows has a swing that has not seen his raw power get tapped into yet if that happens he could become a dangerous threat in the lineup. With every great prospect comes some sort of weakness or negation, for Meadows it has been a swing and miss issue. With such great raw bat speed, Meadows finds himself striking out more than preferred. Having been punched out ninety-eight times this season, Meadows will have to work on cutting that down.
