The defense played stout as expected for the Lions.  Josh Allen completed all of two passes against the Lons first-team defense.  The Lions defensive front was regularly able to get into the face of Allen forcing a few errant throws.

The Lions played very well against the run except for one disastrous play. The Lions were flagged for roughing the passer, but Christin Jones barely touched Allen just after the ball left his hand.  In fact, Jones appeared to try and hold him up.  It was an atrocious call that cost the Lions and Jalen Reeves-Maybin an interception.

As the Lions were rattled by the officiating old man Frank Gore broke loose down the left sideline for 27 yards and was hit by safety Tracy Walker a step out of bounds drawing a flag.  As the teams came together, A’Shawn Robinson was also flagged for taunting.  That’s a big run along with two significant penalties that absolutely can’t happen in the regular season.  That topped off Josh Allen’s best drive of the game, and he didn’t have to do much.

The Detroit Lions forced and recovered a pair of fumbles in last night’s game.  An excellent sign, especially when you take into consideration the interception that should have stood by Reeves-Maybin.  It’s great to see the defense/special teams taking the football away.

Justin Coleman was trailing Cole Beasley after he made a catch working across the middle of the field.  Coleman was in perfect position and punched the ball out from behind. His second forced fumble in as many weeks. Quandre Diggs fell on the ball for the Detroit Lions.

The other turnover came on special teams.  CJ Moore stripped a ball carrier on a Bills kick return. Rookie safety Will Harris was able to come away from the pile with it.  That’s potentially three takeaways by the Detroit Lions.  Very impressive.
