With the 2019-20 NHL season swiftly approaching, the Detroit Red Wings are poised to show improvement this year. Here are some bold predictions that could be made regarding the 2019-20 season.

Coming out of camp, the Detroit Red Wings are looking to be a much younger team, allowing some of their younger players to get a chance to show their skills. With new GM Steve Yzerman at the helm of the organization, the goal this season needs to be growth and development so that the Red Wings can try to get back and get closer to playoff competition again. Over the offseason, only a few acquisitions were made, so the Detroit Red Wings will also look to see these hopefully pay off as much as possible.

Prediction #1: The Red Wings will make a massive improvement in the standings, finishing middle of the pack rather than near the bottom of the league.

The bottom line is, the team is getting younger, and the Red Wings appear to be nearing that proverbial corner that needs to be turned to start competing again. With the development of players like Andreas Athanasiou, Anthony Mantha, and Dylan Larkin, a few true offensive weapons, the Red Wings can expect offensive growth.

Staying in a very general sense, the departure of Niklas Kronwall opens up room for a young defenseman to get more ice time and develop at the NHL level.
