What is your first impression of the 2019 Detroit Lions?

Paul: I’ve been very impressed with the Detroit Lions early on. After their tie with Arizona, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but with three strong performances against the Chargers, Eagles, and Chiefs, they look like a very real team.

As always, their offense is going to be challenging to slow down. The Packers run defense has been suspect at times, which could mean a big day for Kerryon Johnson. While Kenny Golladay looks like a valid number one receiver and Marvin Jones is always a threat downfield. The Green Bay defense will need to be playing well, and I could very well see this game turning into a shootout.

Bob’s Response: While Kenny Golladay appears to be the future favorite for Matthew Stafford, at this point, he seems to rely on Marvin Jones to convert on downfield third-down opportunities.   At this point, it’s a 1A, 1B scenario for the Detroit Lions.

The ‘loss’ (tie) as we like to call it in week one to Arizona really hurt.  The Detroit Lions of the past would have had that bleed over into the next week. This Matt Patricia led group was able to come away with back to back wins over the Chargers and Eagles all be it injuries hampered both clubs, but you can only play the players lined up across from you and take care of business, and they did.

The Detroit Lions play Minnesota next week.  If the Detroit Lions can come away with a win tonight and another next week, they will set themselves up very nicely in the NFC North moving forward.
