Detroit Lions: Top 3 Running Backs Worth Trading For
By Bob Heyrman
Phillip Lindsay
At the moment, he’s still the Denver Broncos lead back. Lindsay has a tremendous story. He’d been a life-long Denver Broncos fan. He was born in Denver, Colorado. He played his college ball at the University of Colorado. He was an undrafted rookie that latched on with his home town Denver Broncos last season and excelled in the roll, making the pro bowl as a rookie. So considering all that, along with his positive production on the football field, the hometown product may not be available.

But if he is, the Detroit Lions should inquire about the tough runner. The Denver Broncos use a split backfield. It’s Lindsay barely out-touching the second-year back Royce Freeman who John Elway drafted in the third round, 71st overall in the 2018 draft to be the bell cow.
The Denver Broncos continue their downward spiral since winning the Super Bowl in 2016. It appears Denver will continue to field offers on their players after trading veteran wide receiver Emmanual Sanders to the San Francisco 49ers last week.
Joe Flacco is a place holder, while John Elway continues to search for his next franchise quarterback. Denver is falling in the standings at 2-6. They now sit in the bottom of the AFC West behind Kansas City, Oakland, and the L.A Chargers.
Elway isn’t one to tank, he’s more of an aggressive GM, but moving Sanders signals Denver may be interested in acquiring draft picks and rebuilding through the draft. There have been rumors star pass-rusher Von Miller could be available. If Von Miller is there for the taking, Detroit should consider that too, but he’d command a massive return. Likely way more than the Detroit Lions would be willing to part with.
Also, if Von Miller is indeed available, everyone, including Philip Lindsay, is available. Lindsay is averaging 4.6 yards per carry this season. He recorded 433 yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground to go with 20 catches totaling 143 yards.
He’d be perfect inside tough runner to compliment Kerryon Johnson. He’d likely unseat Johnson as the primary runner, at the very least limiting Johnson’s touches, in turn, preserving his body. He’d be an excellent get for the Detroit Lions.
