Fantasy Football: 2019 Week Nine Winning Lineup
By Bob Heyrman
As Harry Dunne would say, ‘and you totally redeem yourself.’ Last week my fantasy football picks all hit but one. Hopefully, I can back that up again this week.
The bullpen door swung open two weeks ago, and I strolled to the mound in favor of our very own Colton Wesley, and I immediately gave up a grand slam. Last week, like any good reliever, I vowed to bounce back, and I did, for the most part. The selection of A.J. Brown was the only swing and miss, but the choices turned in a positive surplus. Let’s hope this weeks’ fantasy football selections are similar.
It will be a ‘homer’ type article here because with the Detroit Lions traveling to Oakland, it opens up plenty of good match-ups in fantasy football. For you fantasy football owners, I’d be playing Matthew Stafford, Kenny Golladay, Tyrell Williams, Josh Jacobs, Darren Waller, Marvin Jones, Danny Amendola, and Derek Carr if you’ve got them. I expect the game to be a shootout.
Let’s jump into this, good luck!
QB | Matthew Stafford | at Raiders | $7,900
The Oakland Raiders are a bit of a surprise this season in the AFC West, especially after all of the distractions they’ve encountered throughout the season. It started with being on HardKnocks this summer; then, it was the Antonio Brown saga followed by Vontez Burfict being suspended for the entire season after targeting a defenseless Jack Doyle in the head. That being said, the Raiders are still 3-4 on the season.
While Jon Gruden has the Raider offense respectable, the defense flat out sucks. The Detroit Lions are extremely thin at running back; it’s shaping up to be another big day for Matthew Stafford. The Raiders are actually decent defending the run, ranking 9th in the league, allowing 92.9 yards per game. They are flat out terrible against the pass ranking 30th in the NFL in passing yards allowed. On average, Oakland allows 285 yards per game.
I expect Stafford to stand in and deliver the football over and over again today. Stafford should be in for a 300-plus yard day and about 3 touchdowns, minimum. Today could very well be Stafford’s best performance of the year. Fire him up in all Fantasy Football formats with confidence.
