Should We Blame Quinn, Patricia or Players for Unsuccessful Lions Season?

If anyone had asked me three months ago what I thought would be the strength of this Detroit Lions team, I would have asked you, why are you asking me such a dumb question? It’s their defense. I was very much wrong.
I would have then went on to boast about how it’s primarily because of a unique defensive front and proceeded to tell you that this defense could even propel the Detroit Lions into the playoffs and maybe even look out for that first playoff win since 1991.
I would have said all that, only to bring everything back down to earth while cautioning you with these expectations because, well obviously… this is a new offense and new offenses often take two offseasons to fully install. Obviously.
Well, it’s now week 12, and it looks like the complete opposite.
The defense is ranked 30th, and Matthew Stafford was leading the league in passing yards before sitting two weeks ago. Like it’s 2011 all over again only with another, but different, defensive-minded head coach. Go figure, Lions.
As we all try to de compartmentalize the path the Lions took to get where we’re at in week 12, in what was supposed to be a promising season. The first and foremost vital compartment to sort out is whose fault is this?
Is it the players underperforming? Matt Patricia’s defense? Bob Quinn’s decisions?
All three in question have pissed in this toilet, but I’m not going to leave you hanging over that, that’s boring. I’m going to deliver the goods with a ‘Pie of Blame’ because I do believe there are some that deserve a more significant piece than others.
