Blake Griffin – A Super Star Talent

It’s a city that used to have Steve Yzerman, Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson, Nicklas Lidstrom, Sergei Fedorov, Chauncey Billups, Miguel Cabrera, Justin Verlander, David Price, J.D. Martinez, Prince Fielder, Max Scherzer, and the list goes on.

Besides maybe only Matthew Stafford, Blake Griffin is the only SUPER star in Detroit.  Yes, I realize Miguel Cabrera is still in town, but he’s merely a shell of what he once was.

Blake Griffin provided the Pistons with a career year last season.  He was a reason to watch every single night.  He averaged a career-high 24.5 points per game and shot 46% from the field.  Griffin attempted a career-high 7 three-point shots per night last season and converted on 36% of them.  He was an all-star for the first time since 2014-15 season as a member of the L.A Clippers.

Through his first five games of this season, his numbers are down from last year across the board, but I’m not convinced he’s fully healthy.  He’s averaging 19 points a night.  Griffin is, without a doubt, a draw and a reason to purchase tickets and treck down to Little Caesars Arena with the family or a friend to take in a Pistons game.

Blake Griffin is someone to be thankful for this year.
