Jones, Reyes, and Stewart are the three most likely outfielders for the Tigers this season, but which other three could be the guys who get playing time here and there? Harold Castro, Travis Demeritte, Troy Stokes Jr., and Daz Cameron.

Harold Castro

On this rebuilding Tigers team, last year, we saw Castro play all over the infield and outfield, and he may see more of the same in the 2020 season. Castros is a twenty-four-year-old who played in 97 games for Detroit in 2019.

He managed a .291/.384/.305 slash line with five home runs and thirty-eight RBI for the Tigers. It seems like he could see some time in centerfield as a utility role player with the recent signings in the infield and consistent starting of Niko Goodrum at shortstop.

Travis Demeritte

The Tigers traded Shane Greene to the Atlanta Braves for Demeritte, who had not received a promotion beyond Triple-A until coming to the Tigers, where he spent the rest of 2019 with the big league. In forty-eight games with the Tigers, he hit .225/.343/.286 with three home runs and ten RBI.

The issue with Demeritte was that he struck out over a third of the time, with sixty-three strikeouts over 169 at-bats. Demeritte was a right field fill-in who could see more of the same this upcoming season

Troy Stokes Jr.

The Tigers also have some minor league talent that could allow some other faces to break into the big leagues. Stokes Jr. was claimed by the Milwaukee Brewers and is slotted to be a Triple-A outfielder who could earn a call-up for spotty help in the Tigers outfield. He spent 2019 with the Brewers Triple-A affiliate, and at twenty-three years old, has not seen the big leagues yet.

Daz Cameron

The other name that Detroit may see in the outfield this season is Cameron, the twenty-two-year-old outfielder who has been working towards a call-up for some time now. Last year Cameron spent the season with the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens but had not received his big league shot yet, and 2020 may be the time where he earns that chance to show what he is capable of.

Cameron is one of the Tigers’ better prospects of the recent years who will look to turn some heads in the big leagues when he gets his chances.
