The Detroit Lions have plenty of weaknesses throughout their roster that needs to be addressed in free agency and the NFL draft.  Here are a few options to consider in the first round of the 2020 draft.

It’s been nothing but a horrendous season for the Detroit Lions and their fans.  It was an offseason with experts predicting anywhere between 7-10 wins, having the club competing for the NFC North.  Perhaps this week seventeen matchup with the Packers deciding it.

Remember when ESPN published an article predicting Detroit would only total four wins?  Yes, that one, I teed up and tried to drive out of this atmosphere.  Well, they weren’t kidding.  It appears they overvalued the Lions if you can believe that.

We can sit here and form a plethora of excuses as to why the Lions are where they are, but that’s to ease the pain you are feeling.  I mean, let’s face it.  Detroit is a bad team, a bad organization.  Can they turn that around? Certainly.  Do they have some of the pieces in place to succeed?  Surely they do.

When you look around the league, every team needs a franchise quarterback in place to excel. Check. A great head coach that produces the best out of the players. Questionable. An above-average play-caller on offense. Check.  A team that can win in the trenches and dominates the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. No. Playmakers throughout the skilled positions on both sides of the football. Questionable.

Of course, there are many more factors that go into winning football games, but you get the gist of it.  Detroit has parts but like a puzzle that’s missing a few key components will never be completed unless the proper pieces are discovered.

With both Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia’s jobs on the line, they need to hit a home run in this year’s draft.  Here are the impact players the Detroit Lions will consider on draft day.
