Jerry Jeudy

He’s a player that shouldn’t fly under the radar.  Jerry Jeudy is the best wide receiver in the country.  He’s a player that will compliment Kenny Golladay nicely, and he’s a perfect replacement to Marvin Jones shortly.

More from Detroit Jock City

It’s unlikely that the Detroit Lions will decide to select a wide receiver this high in the draft, but Jerry Jeudy is a can’t miss wide-out.  His numbers are down a bit from last season, but he’s still proven he can develop into a WR1 at the NFL level.

Jeudy is 6’1; maybe you think a bit undersized when you think of the dominating outside receivers across the league. But consider this, Julio Jones is 6’3, Kenny Golladay 6’4 and Mike Evans at 6’5 are monsters outside but don’t forget Calvin Ridley.

He’s 6’1 and appears to have the same frame as Jeudy.  Those two wideouts that anchor the Atlanta offense are both alumni of Alabama similar to Jeudy. Guess what? DeAndre Hopkins, yep, 6’1.  Davante Adams, yep, 6’1.

Another star wideout, Amari Cooper, is also the product of Alabama is also 6’1.  In today’s NFL, the size isn’t a deal-breaker, but it sure helps. Jeudy would be a perfect compliment to Kenny Golladay in Detroit.  With both Marvin Jones and Golladay entering the final year of their contract, both expecting to break the bank, it’s unlikely Detroit will retain an aging Marvin Jones.

Jones is soon to be 30 years old; he’s struggled to remain healthy over the past two seasons.  He’s produced 9 touchdowns to go with his 779 yards in 2019.  Detroit will opt to spend big on Kenny and either trade Jones as early as this summer or before the NFL trade deadline.

Jeudy recorded 14 touchdowns on 68 grabs totaling 1315 yards in 2018 with Alabama.  This year he’s made 71 grabs, 959 yards, and 9 touchdowns.

If Detroit is comfortable taking an offensive playmaker this high in the draft, Jerry Jeudy is the guy.
