With the Detroit Lions once again being spectators during the NFL Playoffs, and we can’t help but watch these terrific games over the weekend, here are three pending free agents to watch during the Tennesee Titans, Baltimore Ravens AFC Divisional matchup.

With plenty of upgrades needed throughout the Detroit Lions roster, this offseason here are three players to focus on tonight.

Derrick Henry

The Detroit Lions desperately need to solve their lack of rushing attack on offense.  Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell opened up the teams’ offense last season with his aggressive downfield passing attack.

During his time with the Seattle Seahawks, Bevell utilized Russell Wilson‘s skills, but the play-action significantly aided them.  Play action in Seattle was driven by the fact Wilson could simply turn around and hand the ball off to ‘beast mode’ Marshawn Lynch.

For Bevell’s offense to operate like a well-oiled machine, he needs to have a respectable rushing attack to create those downfield throws against single coverage.  As great as Russell Wilson is, and he’s a future Hall of Famer, Marshawn Lynch‘s power run became the identity of the Seattle Seahawks offense.

Part of that was due to the fact it rains nearly every day in Seattle.  The other thing that we should take into account was the cold temperatures in Seattle come playoff time.  The cold, windy, rainy weather is perfect for a power-run football team.  With Detroit playing in a dome, Bevell has more options, but what if they need to travel to Chicago, Green Bay, or even a Seattle when they eventually return to the playoffs?

Derrick Henry is a perfect Bevell type runner.  He led the league in rushing during the ’19 season totaling 1540 yards on the ground averaging 5.1 YPC while scoring 16 rushing touchdowns. He also made 18 catches for 206 yards and an additional two touchdowns.  It’s certainly a perfect time to become a free agent if your name is Derrick Henry.

I don’t expect the Tennessee Titans to allow Henry to test the free agency waters, but if he does get away from the Titans, Detroit should consider bringing in the 26-year old star runner.
