Detroit Tigers: A simulation of the 2020 season as it would have been
By Tyler Kotila
Besides the Detroit Tigers losing as expected, take a look at how the playoffs shaped up and some closing remarks on the 2020 simulation.
The Detroit Tigers would not even sniff the playoffs as expected, but the Indians and Twins would both make postseason runs from the American League Central division. The Indians would advance to the American League Championship Series, where they would fall to the Houston Astros.
The Astros would take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2020 World Series, where the Dodgers would take home the honors in five games. Cody Bellinger would take home the World Series Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for his performance.

Looking at some of the major awards, it was Bellinger who also took home the honors for National League (NL) MVP.
In the American League (AL), it was Yordan Álvarez who would take home the MVP honors for his performance with the Astros.
In terms of best pitcher, it was Astros ace Justin Verlander who continuously gets better with age, taking home the honors for AL Cy Young award winner.
In the NL, it was Chicago Cubs pitcher Yu Darvish who took home the honors for the best pitcher who was a shocker compared to some of the more recent seasons.
After the end of the season, it was announced that Hector Santiago retired after a rough season. He was thirty-two years old, and it was listed that he retired due to his ability being on the decline.
Jordy Mercer also called it quits after the 2020 season had concluded. Mercer, Santiago, and two other minor league players would hang up the cleats in the simulation after the season had ended.
So after running the 2020 simulation, it was no shocker that the Detroit Tigers were in the last place and lost as many games as they did. However, it gives fans something to read about how the season would have gone if it was played out.
