The Detroit Red Wings had a couple of different forwards who were outliers and did not play in many games and are not worthy of a grade.

Andreas Athanasiou, Grade: A, sort of

Looking at Andreas Athanasiou, similar to defenseman Mike Green, he gets an “A” for netting an excellent return from the Edmonton Oilers at the trade deadline. Obviously, the “A” does not factor in with the players on the team, but he deserves the “A” for the draft capital the team received.

Jacob de La Rose, Grade: A, sort of

If any of the players traded this year, deserve an “A” grade out of courtesy, it is Jacob de La Rose who was a part of the trade that brought in Fabbri. With the way that Fabbri excelled this year, losing de La Rose for a second-line winger was well worth it.

More from Detroit Red Wings

Sam Gagner, Grade: N/A

The Red Wings acquired Sam Gagner as a throw-in from the trade deadline moves with the Edmonton Oilers.

After being traded to the Red Wings, he played in all six games where he scored one goal.

His small sample size made it impossible to give him a season grade for his performance with the Red Wings.

Evgeny Svechnikov, Grade: N/A

One of the exciting Red Wings prospects is Evgeny Svechnikov, who should be a future stud in the Red Wings lineup. Svechnikov only played in four total games, failing to register a point. His season was spent in the minor leagues, so it was not applicable to grade him on his NHL performance.

Dmytro Timashov, Grade: N/A

After the trade deadline passed, the team would claim Dmytro Timashov from the Toronto Maple Leafs. Timashov is an investment type of claim that did not get a chance to show his stuff with the team. He would not receive a grade because he only played in five games, not seeing the scoresheet at all.
