The Detroit Tigers need to see JaCoby Jones bounce back during the 2021 season after the second straight season with an early exit due to injury.

The past two seasons have resulted in the Detroit Tigers losing out on JaCoby Jones due to injury. Again in 2020, Jones found himself on the sidelines after sustaining a fracture in his hand, which ended his season early.

Jones has finally looked like he was going to start settling in and becoming the player that the Tigers have hoped for in the past. The outfielder comes from Louisiana State University, where he is on the pipeline that comes from LSU coach Paul Mainieri and Tigers General Manager (GM) Al Avila.

If all goes well, the Tigers could hopefully get their outfield in order with Jones becoming the outfielder they had hoped for in recent years. The Tigers will be able to get an outfield of the future, and Jones will be a centerpiece of that if he can bounce back.

More from Detroit Tigers

In 2020, Jones played in 30 thirty games where he hit .268/.333/.515 while hitting five home runs and notching 14 RBI for the Tigers while making a few stellar plays in the outfield.

He would ultimately head to the Injured List (IL), as mentioned above, with the hand injury.

He looked as if things were clicking, and he was going to be able to become the hitter that the Tigers have been hoping to see.

In 2019, Jones played in 88 games where he hit .235/.310/.430 while hitting 11 home runs and notching 26 RBI.

The Tigers are going to need Jones to bounce back and return to the form that he showed in his stints during the 2019 and 2020 season. He looked like he was finally settling in as a productive outfielder and a capable centerfielder for the organization.

If the Tigers can get consistency from Jones, the best-case scenario would have him being the standalone centerfielder while the organization starts working through the prospects. There is excitement for the future with names like Daz Cameron (who debuted this year) and Riley Greene, but there is excitement.

After two years of his season being ended short, Jones will look to remain healthy. Now the injuries that Jones has sustained are no fault to him, but the setbacks take away from some impressive seasons he was throwing together.
