Detroit Tigers prospects Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson give fans plenty of reasons to get excited about the organization’s future.

The Detroit Tigers, like every other franchise, have had quite the 2020 season; from a shortened season to 2020 Summer Camp, it has been quite a ride. The latest development pertinent to the Tigers organization is the kicking off of the Fall Instructional League in Lakeland, Florida.

This offers yet another chance for the Tigers’ best and brightest prospects to get on the field together and strut their stuff. Two of the Tigers’ best prospects, Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson, have found their way to Lakeland, where they are looking mighty good.

While instructional leagues and the big leagues are vastly different, it is still good to see these prospects getting work in alongside one another. The roster features a plethora of recent draft picks, trade acquisitions, and international signings.

But for this piece, look at Greene and Torkelson.

The Detroit Tigers Twitter account recently gave the two the nickname of “The Bash Bros.”

Based on Torkelson’s Twitter response, it might be a nickname that sticks around once the two are suiting up for the Tigers at Comerica Park.

Thinking about it, Greene and Torkelson could combine to be two incredible hitters if things pan out as Tigers fans would hope they do.

These two are leading the Tigers to a bright future. Greene put on a show in Summer Camp, and as Roger Castillo of Motor City Bengals recently suggested, there is no timetable for when he earns his call-up. Castillo also compared Greene being called up to that of Juan Soto’s rise to the big leagues at just nineteen years old.

The Tigers are starting to see some of their top talents reach the big leagues, and the rebuild is becoming a bit clearer as to who will be getting chances in the big leagues. Greene and Torkelson still have the most buzz around them among any of the position players.

Can you blame anyone for that? Torkelson is a first-round, first overall selection from this past 2020 MLB First-Year Amateur Player Draft and arguably has one of the most exciting bats across all of baseball.

The Tigers should be downright amped up for Greene to continuing chasing down fly balls, making diving catches, driving the ball well from the left-side, and starting to piece together his skillset.

On the other hand, the organization should be just as amped up to hear Torkelson talk about a smooth transition at third base, hitting moonshot home runs in Lakeland, and carrying himself with an incredible attitude.

While the last few seasons have been quite painful for Tigers fans, and the immediate future may still be tough to watch. Just take a moment to think about the prowess and excitement that is on the way to the big leagues in the form of Greene and Torkelson.
